Music and lyrics by Richard Day. Richard was the band instructor at Ames High School prior to Mr. Trexel and Mr Homer Gartz for about 35 years. He was also the director of the Ames Municipal Band for at least 40 years.

The C.I.C. (Central Iowa Conference) Song isn't sung anymore because that conference, which included Ames, Boone, Grinnell, Marshalltown, Newton and Oskaloosa, no longer exists. It is still a good song, but not relevant anymore.

She had sung the song so much at AHS that she still had committed it to memory. Note, this song is and sung to the same tune as the C.I.C Conference song, and the words to both are very similar.
