Our AHS 35 year reunion schedule is as follows

We have set up 10 different events (some chargeable, some free) starting Thursday, August 2nd and ending Sunday, August 5th. Listed below is a summary of the events.

We are really pushing to have a great attendance! One of the keys is to have every person contact an old classmate and encourage attendance. What could be better than spending a weekend in Iowa, in August with some old friends?

Now pick up the phone, call an old friend and make plans to be in Ames August 2-5, 2007.

• Event 1 Tour of Bridges of Madison County. Meet at the AHS parking lot at 11:00 am.  Contact: Mary Clare Minor m a r y c l a r e 2 ( A T ) e m a i l . m s n . c o m
  First event of the class of '72 reunion. Last minute changes as of July 2007:
  We have made some changes and that may allow more people to participate. We will still meet at the AHS parking lot at 11 am on Thursday Aug. 2nd to go tour the Bridges of Madison County. Change is that we will not be using a bus, we will go in private vehicles, so we welcome anyone who just didn't get signed up before! Also, we will do the tour ourselves then hang out around Winterset to see the various museums (John Wayne house, etc.) and look at their arts and crafts and antique stores. Lunch will be at the café on the square in Winterset where Clint Eastwood and "the Redfield woman" had a scene in the movie. The café has a lot of pictures and memorabilia from the movie. Café is inexpensive and all these activities in Winterset are in walking distance (it's a small town - duh!)
  Finally, we were planning to end the day in Des Moines. That evening is Nitefall on the River concert beginning at 7 pm. Read more about this at http://www.dmgov.org/departments/pr/events/nitefall.htm We were planning to eat at a yet undecided location near there and then go to hear the music from either the park or a outdoor restaurant. • Event 2> Elementary School Reunions – This event is free.  Please contact individuals responsible for each school to find out where they are meeting.  We need volunteers to organize for some schools.  Don’t be scared!     Also, the Meeker Mini-reunion meets in Meeker's Media Center at 9:30, Friday, August 3rd.  Plenty of parking, go in the main (North) door that faces 20th Street.  Tour of the school being given by Camille Helgeson----Mr (Bill) Ripp's daughter, who is a teacher at Meeker.  Bring grade school photos if you've got 'em!

Location: 40 & 8 Cabin on the Skunk River – Hwy 69 North.  The old Iron Bridge over the Skunk on this old gravel road is Awesome!! 

Directions: 2 intersections N of the Gilbert 4 corners is 150^th Street, Go E 2 ½ miles to the Skunk River.  Just before The Old Steel Bridge. Or: 1-35 N to the Roland exit (130^th St), go E to the first road, S to 150^th Street, then W to the Skunk River Bridge. 

Menu: Iowa Pork, Sweet Corn, Tomatoes and Cucumbers.  Fresh Keg Beer, Wine, Soda provided.  Please bring your own Bottle (moonshine).

The Ames High School Class of 1982 Silver 25-year Reunion was held in June 2007 and was a lot of fun.

We surveyed all of the alumni for whom we had e-mail addresses and the vast majority voted for an informal 25^th reunion, with plenty of opportunities to reconnect with friends. We hope that the plans that we’ve put together meet your expectations and look forward to seeing you in June 2007.

8:00 a.m. Alumni Golf Outing at Veenker Golf Course
(7:00-7:45 a.m. registration). The event is open to all AHS alumni, teachers, and guests. The format is a 4-Person Bestshot. Click here for more golf information and a golf registration form.

10:00 a.m. Tour of AHS
Visit your old stomping grounds and see how the AHS campus has grown.  Bill Ripp has graciously agreed to serve as our tour guide and to answer any questions you may have about changes at AHS .

1:30-3:30 p.m. Reception at the Iowa State University Reiman Gardens
1407 Elwood Drive (next to the ISU football stadium). Alumni and their families are invited to visit with high school classmates as they tour the site’s kid-friendly butterfly house and gardens. It’s a great place to bring the family! $7.50 per person includes the cost of admission to Reiman Gardens and light refreshments in a private reception area.

7:00 p.m. Gathering at Olde Main Brewing Co.
316 Main Street, Downtown Ames. Spend the evening catching up with some familiar and not-so-familiar faces at Ames’ new downtown brewery and restaurant. Purchase your own dinner or just a drink—whichever you prefer!

The 10 Year reunion is in place, to be held July 13-14, 2007.

The event starts with a social to be held at the Legends American Grill in Ames on Friday July 13, 2007 from 8-11pm. Dress is casual.

Saturday, July 14, 2007 involves a gathering at Scheman on ISU`s campus. A cocktail social starts at 6pm followed by a buffet dinner, entertainment and good times. Dress business casual. Reunion runs until 11pm.
